The CQSA was originally established in 1946 as a 'trade' body made up of Equity Partner members from Quantity Surveyoring practices, whether major firms, or sole practitioners.
In 2012 the CQSA shed it's QS exclusive ties and now counts among its members Partners, Directors and Senior Staff from QS and Contracting businesses of all sizes, having either a QS, Project Management or Building Surveying background. We also enjoy the company of some members who are now retired.
Goals, Aims and Objectives
Our membership profile provides a unique power base from which to express and create 'a voice of influence' within the wider construction industry; and in this respect the Association has developed close ties with the CIC (Construction Industry Council), achieved over many years of cooperation that has created mutual recognition by both organisations. We also enjoy close ties with the RICS.
With both the RICS and CIC, the CQSA members have colaborated on a number of research projects in the areas of:
- education and training;
- industry practice and market performance;
- the development and quality of project management; and
- key focus on continuous improvement.
Although we participate in Research and Development projects with the CIC and RICS, the principal objective of the CQSA is to enable our members to enjoy each fellowship through each other's company and to learn through learning over lunch, and the speakers we choose are topical and relevant to CPD of senior individuals at the highest level in a business. Put simply you are amongst relative equals. Some examples of the recent Speaker topics are: Carbon Costing; BIM; eTendering; and the Corruption Act.
The CQSA - a forum for fellowship, networking, and learning
The Association is currently seeking to grow further in stature and influence.
To do this, the CQSA is seeking to further expand its membership to provide both a greater pool of informed resource on which it can call and to further enhance the credibility of its position as the voice in the UK Construction Industry.
